Biggest SCANDAL In Chess History
ladies and gentlemen welcome to what is probably the
history uh thats not an understatement
chess has never been bigger since the boom in 2020 2021 2022 sometimes we get our drama here on the 64 squares but today takes the cake huh to catch up currently its the singfield cup in st louis many of the best players in the world are playing and yesterday hans demon a rising american prodigy defeated magnus carlson the five time world champion and arguably the greatest player of all time and today magnus carlsen withdrew from the event and said he cannot give more details or he will get in trouble he tweeted video of José Mourinho who is a football manager during an interview in which he said if he talks he's going to get in trouble, and then he also went on to change sorry about the way it's going to be a very light screen he changed his instagram profile to say hitting someone once is not revenge a, that it's just a sty very anime le uh line that's a bit yeah that's very what happened ok a lot of people ran with this and give credit to magnus for not sounding inflammatory uh accusatory and we'll cover all the games from round number four it basically looks like magnus carlsen thinks something is not quite right with hans neiman it's okay and based on that game and based on his results so far in the event that hanziman is in first place with two and a half out of three so I don't cover
chess drama when it absolutely breaks out but my goal here is to provide you with the facts and give you my opinion okay and I usually have pretty sensible opinions okay so one of two things is going on , number one, hans absolutely did not cheat and magnus just caused a huge number of
scandal. two hans cheated and magnus still caused he didn't cause it you get what i'm saying right magnus brought it out so the thing about
chess at the highest level is unless you physically trap someone cheating, no theory. ethically there is no evidence and the only way to do it the only way to do it live on the board person to person someone has to be getting help that is the only way to cheat live on the board it has happened that people walk into the bathroom they have a phone hidden in there ok they communicate with signals but you would think that in a tournament like singfield cup where they probably have metal detectors they look for them most likely search them there is nothing that I can bring him to somehow send messages to your body as if this is legit and I don't think magnus would be making such a claim if he didn't think he has legs how how and chest the world shakes to its core because no one knows what he is happening now this is a huge thing to say hikaru spent the day talking about some issues not magnus they have had in the past with
chess.com and playing online you can check reddit
chess , I mean, it's just flooded w Clips out, all good,
chess brought in and I'll show you the games right now.
I'm about to get into gaming but I wanted to do this intro and I wanted to say I have to say my piece here so if it turns out that hans is completely legit there's no one to prove cheating this is crazy everyone from
chess owes him an apology if hanzo if it is somehow determined I don't know how well I don't know how but if but if it is somehow determined that hans is cheating that would be extremely annoying that would be crazy that would be annoying that would be that it would mean
chess has some of the worst anti cheating anywhere um it's understandable cheating I mean it's not something we support but some of your favorite athletes take performance enhancing drugs it's an addiction the Success is an addiction, it's understandable, but my God, would it be devastating?
I have had people in my community like viewers cheat and often if they are teenagers they are allowed back in. I believe in second chances. We all make stupid mistakes when we're younger, but a mistake like that on a scale like this and this. I don't even realize that, can you, can't I? And on that note, uh, I think it's time to take a look at some
chess games that were or weren't played today Magnus didn't make a move against mamikharov and the game did not happen I hope I was understanding uh innocent until proven otherwise there's a couple of pieces of evidence in terms you know people are looking at hans neiman's post game interviews uh they say oh he's not you know that's basically what's going on right now so i'm telling you relaying all this information, it's a developing case, i have no idea what's going to happen and if i miss anything, write it in the comments because i don't start these things or edit them. so sometimes i miss what i want to say i'm trying to be as conclusive as possible give you the if a if b is ok oh my god so this game never happened um and i'll cover hans vs furuja that's the last game and this game was crazy so the first game of the day to finish was yanipomnishi vs wesley so he was a catalan wesley played just a very solid line b5 this is a move that has been covered a lot recently and there is a very interesting pawn sacrifice variation if white takes c4 there is this tactic but if nepo knows all that something tells me and I would like to have a slight suspicion that I am right, although I could be wrong.
The players ended up basically swapping their pieces off the board and repeating moves. Something tells me they didn't want to play today, you know? what i mean is you show up on the board there is no magnus where is he and not just that games now have a 15 minute broadcast delay like uh you know what i mean i mean is it's crazy it's just it's really wild stuff um so this game was a draw which was quick um levon versus dominguez this was an interesting game uh levon plays a massive sideline levon plays like a beginner spot against the sicilian defense when you first learned openings remember those days you're like oh i have to go out at night my bishop and i do this against everything but as you get stronger you think you don't need to do this against the sicilian.
This is not good because there will be e6 and d5 stuff. but what we're seeing is you can basically play any opening nowadays and get a good position and yeah I mean Lavon basically plays a vienna against the sicilian admit it in the comments. How many of you have done that? How many of you have learned vienna and then made the mistake that you're like I'm going to play this against everything and you understand this you're like I'm playing vienna just like gotham taught me I don't know why you became a Peaky character Blinders in the middle of all that but you know this is kind of what lavon does huh and then he plays b4 and I mean levon is a bit silly today I feel like he's playing b5 prompting on the queen side anyone else feel you don't want to know how? of the other games it was like this is just me can you can you tell me I don't care about the other games I'm an anxious person it's ok and since my channel has grown a bit anything causes a bit more anxiety right now there are more eyes on me and stuff but i understand you i get over it and i talk a lot about mental health on twitch uh if you dont know you should watch my twitch uh but not with your kids i cuss alot uh so i talk about that stuff a lot drama like this that has no conclusion scares me i don't know what to expect next like what's going to happen is magnus going to issue a statement?
Is hans going to post a statement god i have no idea anyway um yeah uh this game was very locked up for a long time and then all of a sudden we had a late night trade and this makes things a bit interesting as black they want to put some pressure on the d3-pawn um and white just blocked everything. Levon put his own bishop in jail, but because black has a very bad structure, he doubled the z-pawns, it's very difficult for him to make a move, he just becomes rock solid and pushes himself one more pawn and then, here both players just decide you know what I'm going to go look at my twitter and I'm no yeah and they just literally mix up the moves back and forth I mean honestly I feel like people just didn't want to play except for the la for the penultimate game i'm going to show you fabiano carona vs mvl they played oh they played so keep an eye on that um levon was one of the few people who went on record and said i don't think we should jump to conclusions about the young players.
He shot uh, he doesn't think people should just, uh, you know, take uh, the hairpins from him and go after Hans Demon. That's some of what I said in the introduction. man sorry you know what I mean it's crazy to say this to tarnish someone's legacy but only one of two things is true that's it that's what you know and maybe the truth will come out . um now the last one uh the penultimate game. this game was awesome so if you want to jump into the hans ferruccio game because obviously i'm going to talk about it because hans and magnus all this um yeah this one was crazy so this was one night or if maxine plays a night off like he does all the time uh fabiano plays the main lane ultra so by the way both guys are going long uh recently at this event I'm pretty sure maxine played the move uh h5 at some point like if there was a position he played h5 which prevents g4 this time he goes for the ultra critical m A line in line so both guys just push pawns forward this is all theory it's seen a lot and it's a line very definite which results in Black having an extra pawn position, but White having the bishop pair, in fact I think until move 20 something. play has happened before even beyond that and fabi can win the pawn on f4 and even material and the position is super unbalanced ok very tricky kings are just completely polar sides of the board but in the long run you know that white might have a chance to break that queenside if black can't win by checkmate white will be very happy and mvl will start counterattacking and around here i thought oh let's repeat the moves? it will be another tie and then you know what i'm going to do with my summary fabi says no remember the computer says no just remember that clip no it's just me and he gets this position and nvl is a little worse you know he has these split pawns the These pawns are good.
Those pawns can have an important role in the end game. Maybe not. um and uh yeah uh d5 f4 dc4 hit the queen bobby play here the queen is hanging and the rook too but now look at this amazing move if you take then I take oh but then I get e7 wait a minute ok so no there's queen e4 that's not a fork and why he pawns and i told you a long time ago that those pawns could make the difference and stockfish would keep this endgame endgame with black black isn't black cod he's a guy named maxime vashila grav and now that the players have reached the time control and they get that overtime white is playing this to win why four pawns against three and what is very important in endgames is that you have an active king now.
In the case of a queen endgame, an active king is not always a good thing because the enemy queen is only going to harass you. imbalance two one which is the side of the board we're going to win on alright so it takes a little bit of time ok ok we got queen g2 check and he takes h6 ok now it's one on one but queen c4 and slowly we see fabiano correct doing exactly what he's supposed to and he's built up a winning edge and here mvl decides to drop the pawns and play queen vs queen and two now this is drawing a bull too can lose for blah no it can be won because white is not going to hang a queen as you can see my jock here is having a little breakdown he doesn't know if this is winning or not my jock is not strong enough once we get that deep into the end of the game,
chess is resolved, so there are databases. they have solved
chess when there are seven pieces in total on the board if you count the pieces here is one two three four five six so the engine knows if this is a win or a draw thinks it is a win now how will black survive the Black is going to have to put the king in the corner and rely on perpetual check or stalemate, so there will be traps where he can lose his queen, but it's a stalemate, so perpetual check will point dead, White must avoid such things, White must go for queen trades, and White must avoid a tied king in a pawn ending. the game so white shouldn't get a king and because that's just the draw ok let's see how it tests now I can't explain the intricacies of each move the commentators huh yasser sarah and peter fiddler they were talking about how there is an endgame where if the queen was on d2 it would be a draw god help anyone who has that information inside their brain cause i like it yeah so you'll notice anywaythat the king is dancing forward and looking for cover ok queen e7 queen c6 progress is being made queen e7 now here for the life of me I don't understand why the b5 move didn't happen somewhere around here maybe it wasn't exactly on this I was behind de queen c5 apologies in this position huh yeah the move b5 in th In the other position it was a draw so b5 here just to make the progress look very natural um and then try to play it as a combination of a couple of moves and continue progressing i just thought fabio was going to push his pawn at some point like at some point the zombie had to push his pawn and fabi made a mistake in the game uh and in this position he played the queen move c5 and folded the game why threw the game away because apparently now we see the stalemate trap is a tie you can't take the queen and the only way to avoid a tie here is to run all the way back to the start this is the only way Po ppy must have been so angry, he must have been so demoralized to release a game like this, it absolutely hurts your soul and he knows he can't trade queens. he can't rush there it is now he can now his king ha ok he had to go back to the beginning stockfish claims this is a tie i know he says plus four base table thinks this is a tie which is crazy right why you look at this like you're as it says plus four stockfish in a web browser doesn't always understand endgames this ending has been worked out by the engines to be a draw how do you draw it? i have no idea i have no idea i am not strong enough to explain this to you and neither are the commentators peter svidler and yasser sarah one completely gave up like they are literally like i dont know why a move is a draw and a move is a win
chess is just plain stupid the engines have ruined the charm of some parts of the game but not all of it anyway ranting about humanity here comes fabiano on the right and he's making very slow progress with a minute on the clock apparently that its not a replay btw apparently theres a d5 king move in some of these positions which wins and the point is you try to win the battle diagonally i dont know anyway queen d7 and finally fobby gets the apon there which apparently it throws the game away but apparently fabi had to play a slightly different way huh what was this? and if the king went to the corner huh you have a check you have to put your queen here and then play king b5 that's what the fabi engine says this and after queen f1 apparently it's a draw again because the king gets stuck in a vortex and then one more lost draw apparently is here the e7 queen for black is the only drawing move so the e7 queen keeps the draw according to the table base which doesn't happen and a beautiful endgame here takes the king out of checks and a good endgame that's why you need the pawns to advance now white loses remember i told you a long time ago that white has to avoid a tied endgame which was with the apon but black is now forced into an exchange of queens and not a stalemate so if here you would play queen d8 queen d7 you would take and this is just a winning king in pawn end game you have to get the b pawn not the pawn a favi wins i mean what a good game b ok ok god i felt like i sat through a three hour movie do you remember the first time you saw avatar not the last airbender the one of the blue people i was like a kid i dont remember that movie at all but i want say the movie was so long ok um and now i have to know i have to show you the main event so this game was fascinating because as the news unfolded and if you jumped in here because you just wanted to see the alto hans game thanks for skipping check out the rest i need the ad revenue um im kidding no but seriously there was a very interesting game you skipped it people who watched it all will tell you they just watched a game really interesting anyway this game is interesting because if something is going on that is beyond human comprehension and something that you know is disgusting we are going to see it okay or maybe not maybe we are going to see a demolition in the opposite direction ok n all eyes were on this game now from the start they have played a relatively normal opening i mean i dont know exactly the theoretical state of this position but it got really tight in the middle and hans traded uh a couple of pieces and got this position now hans is better from the opening uh he has very good pressure here in the black position and ali raza is defending a lot now here hans gave away a complete piece and if you notice my engine doesn't even get it it's like you're on drugs so point is this is not mate apparently there are ideas here like f4 queen just holding position and look this cod thinks white is better well naturally alireza was like the f and just moved this king out of the way and hans got much better position after 20 moves now d4 rook was not the best move of the engine um i think c4 was right and again hikaru was watching this game a lot of people e was watching this game and trying to be like 'oh he's him you know it's right and slow but sure hans got a position where he sacrificed some material and had a bishop and a pawn for a rook with a pawn past and good pressure platform ht and so here was a variation that was discussed in the press conference after hans came up with this line he mentioned this variation to ali raza after the game that's what alireza said and in the interview i think it was bishop to e5 attacking the queen when the queen moves to g5 white plays the rook g4 and if the bishop takes g4 you play f4 and white is winning white is winning because the queen is trapped or if the queen escapes to d8 then this is unstoppable checkmate alireza afterwards it was like i didn't know what others were like i didn't see that at all like huh and so the only other way to win the only way to survive is to get this king position h2 eh bishop g4 and as a line to completely crazy that the commentators huh and everyone else was kind of like now Hans mentioned that but he never played that in the game in the game he got to this position where he still has the bishop on the pawn of the rook, but Black can consolidate. and then here hans co I could, for example, sacrifice the bishop and maybe get a perpetual, but he played a bit more and, uh, ali raza defended and you know I liked this kind of blocked position, apparently it was even better, but I think that Alireza had had enough. he had suffered enough, he decided that I'm going to make it to the end game and if there's a god, he'll let me survive and uh, you know, um, yeah, I live to see another day and I live to draw a picture and, um, yeah basically it all comes down to these interviews like the interviews that the players give with alejandra ramírez interviewing them with the board which at this point seems to be the main topic of conversation right now as i said in my intro uh i look at this in a very black and white way no pun intended if there's something nasty going on that's devastating that's crazy
chess needs to drastically improve anti-cheap measures huh but also people make mistakes everyone makes mistakes to different degrees you and I have ma of mistakes day by day, some bigger than others, some unforgivable, but I'm not talking, I'm not escalating to something like murder, but I'm just saying that on the escalation of mistakes, things happen, I'm not a guy to kick. someone when they're down and right now the burden of proof is innocent until proven guilty and some of you guys i uploaded a clip some of you were even mad i hinted this is what's being hinted at today i'm giving you the facts everything
chess the world is trying to understand why magnus carlsen, the world
chess champion, left the tournament after three rounds after losing a game he has never withdrawn from a tournament in his life he has been ill in tournaments he has never been withdrew the last time this happened it was like one time i was not a world champion someone withdrew from a tournament also protesting a result in 2009 it was shakuya yamamiyarov against a grandmaster i think it was russia i dont even remember the name i mean kurnosiv maybe huh and you h yeah this wouldn't happen if this was going to be a substantial claim or innuendo to magnus because obviously he didn't say anything he just gave us the hints that he gave us, you know, and he's not going to say anything probably for legal reasons and I know I'm here to report what's going on in the
chess world so all I'm saying is it's a or b there's no middle ground no i have no idea what to expect in the next few days my anxiety has been through the roof all day because i just don't know this is a crazy situation uh yeah i mean i think i've said everything i've said you know what i mean how you commit mistakes on a level like this, you know, you say what you say to the cameras in the media, but I mean, if it really came true, that would be, I mean, it would be amazing, I just what can you say? um but yeah the truth uh will come out hopefully uh and if not if this just stays.
In a state of limbo, then somebody else is going to get mad. I'm going to be furious if we don't come up with anything conclusive. I mean, if we just act like it's nothing like the
chess world has this way of glossing over the drama. 48 to 72 hours I need an answer I need to know what's going on someone has to tell the truth somewhere I hope you enjoyed today's recap um if you're new to the world of
chess yes this is a really big
scandal and I am I will see you in the next video get out of here
