Ghana Entertainment Awards USA 2017
it's a very young Oprah and we're live at the
Awards we say this is the first animal and we have a lot in store for you of course we have great interviews and you're going to witness some great performances from space alright. So you're the host of the event, of course you have a cold, but your hostess, Amanda, how is she feeling? It's a nice experience to always be able to do something different from what we're known for when we go on stage, so this isn't the first time. I've been doing it for like two years in a row in
Ghana in 2009 and 2010 so it's actually something I've done before so it feels good to host the first time you've met the
Awards here in the US so I hope this is the start of something big that will become a legacy for those who come after us to enjoy properly so this is a first and we just ask everyone to watch from away with critical eyes and telus constructive criticism ticisms and then i just want to take it to the next level instead of crashing it when you see it so this is the first one with a bear like i said i'm looking forward to everyone's unification and also the performances.
I can't wait for that. I've seen a couple and we have a couple more surprises and also to see who will be rewarded for his good work, oh yeah, and the outfits. I want to see who will win better. dress, you know it well. I'm actually very excited because the first edition of the goners became an award in the US, so I think it's great because we are bridging the cultural diaspora between the US and
Ghana and we have a lot to learn or both of them. sides and I really want to feel like we're home, you know, home and see who's going to win and it's exciting so I think it's going to be a great time looking forward to a spectacular show and going on stage and presenting for a couple of hours to the nominees, always wonderful.
It's a great feeling to be at the inaugural edition of something so wonderful. I think it's long overdue, yes.
Ghana has to be on the map and this is, you know, like a step in the right direction. and everyone will help put this together oh it feels great you know this is their first time hosting these
awards in America so I mean are we happy to be here and I'm happy to be performing with my big brother Duke b2 for me? I feel like we're making history so I'm very honored to be a part of this and you won a couple of
How does it feel? Oh, it always feels great when you win. and to everyone who came, thank you and from all the people who built, how are you? I'm not just sorry if you do something. I was beautiful. Cover. My house is starting lighters. im just showing love im just here i was invited out as a guest a and see pieces of
ghanaian culture just looking to see a great show you know this is the first annual so i wanted to go well i mix im excited to see what guests surprise they have, how is the soul, who and the other words too. finally because I've been to so many award shows like this I've been to different countries around the world so this one is different and I guess let's stick the pattern in Nigerian
entertainment award so yeah I'm proud to be here. and i see a lot of food it's actually like a family reunion or a class reunion i see a lot of people i know some i'm glad to be here i'm a lovely lady i'm here to support the gunny and
awards for the first time in the usa ., so that's everything I love to be on foundation day.
I'm just here to show love and support for Gunny and his family. You know it's Africa so I'm just here to show love. It really feels great. I am very proud that we are actually united in the Diaspora uniting Africa. I know because sometimes when we are abroad, I used to live in the United States and I was always looking for African events to go to you. Sometimes you miss home, so I think this is a good platform to do that and come together as Africans. and also show america some of our culture well i feel at home so i feel really great because almost most people when i was a kid preferred to go to africa to move and i took the opposite of where i prefer be. here from or in Africa here for my American people so on it's like my friends from 20 years ago zyau that's what you say digital is happening now yes yes exactly don't say it all my friends me oh that's what they say ten years ago about not going to
Ghana and spending money here to promote it so it's like a dream come true and I say and I'm a part of it you know sometimes you'll be a part of it or you can see it come true and not be a part of it but to be a part of that yeah that's that's big what d Do you think this means for
Ghana this is a Person Award here in the US yeah? the next step is and i've been asked to grow that's more earn more grow more africa it just means
ghana you know
ghana music is conquering higher heights you know and going forever further than never been before for you to travel so far. from home and to see that there is a movement like an active movement here is very encouraging so I think it's a point in the right direction and Charlie I'm very happy to be here it was a great show I don't know if you saw it but you were a bishop, I will.
I loved. I think it's amazing. I think it's great that these artists are finally bringing us into the mainstream and giving us proper credit because that sometimes doesn't always happen. We get appropriation of a lot of our styles and our songs in our broader culture and I think um our artists are finally getting some credit and that's awesome so yeah I mean I think this is a good platform to start and who knows where to go. I'm serious. it means our music is spreading and we have more awareness not only in
Ghana but also all over the world and i think it's great for you
