Ghana Entertainment Awards USA 2017
It's a very young Oprah and we're live at the
Awards. We say this is the first beast and we have so much in store for you. Of course we have great interviews and you're going to witness some great space performances - ok so you're hosting the event, of course you've got a cold, but your host Amanda, how does that feel, um, it's a nice experience, always something different do than we usually do when we come on stage so this isn't my first. When I was hosting an
awards show I did it two years in a row in
Ghana in 2009 and 2010 so actually I've done it before so feels good to be the one hosting the first-ever
awards here in the US, so hopefully this will be the start of something big that will serve as a legacy for those who come after us to properly explore to amuse, you know, so this is the first and we're just asking everyone to watch from afar with critical eyes and Telus constructive cri and then möc i just wanted to take it to the next level instead of destroying it when you see it so this is the first one with a bear like i said i look forward to uniting everyone and also the performances i can't wait , that i have seen a few and we have a few more surprises and also to see who will be recognized for their good work oh yes and the outfits i want to see who will win the best i am really very excited , because the first edition of Goners in the US turned into an award so I think it's great because we're bridging the cultural diaspora between the US and
Ghana and there's so much to learn for us or both and I'm just really excited making you feel at home, you know, at home and seeing who's going to win and it's exciting so I think it's going to be a great time looking forward to a spectacular show and to the stage to go and presenting a few hours to the nominees is always a miracle.
Amazing feeling to be part of the first edition of such a wonderful cause. I think it's long overdue yes
Ghana needs to be put on the map and that as you know is a step in the right direction and everyone is going to help put this together, oh it feels great you know , this is the first time they're hosting these
awards in America so I mean we're excited to be here and I'm excited to perform with my big brother Duke b2 for me I feel like we're making history so i'm very honored to be a part of it and you've won a few
awards how does that feel oh it always feels great when you win we're always i would thank you for that Thanks committee and everyone who came through thanks and of all the people who built how not just sorry when you do something?
I was beautiful I'm just showing love I'm just here I was invited to come as a guest a I see bits of
Ghanaian culture just to see a great show. You know this is the first year so I wanted to run well. i mix I'm excited to see what surprise guests they have, like the soul who and the other words too. Finally, because I've been to so many
awards shows like this one, I've been to different countries around the world, so this one is different and I guess , let's put a pattern on the Nigerian
entertainment award so yes I'm proud to be here and I see a lot of food it's actually like a family reunion or class reunion. i see so many people I know some.
I'm happy to be here in the US so all I love is being outside on base day. I'm only out here to show love and support to Gunny and his family. You know it's an Africa so I'm just here to show love, it feels really good. I am really proud that as you know we are coming together in diaspora and bringing Africa together with you I know because sometimes when we were abroad I felt like I was living in America and I would always go after looking for African events to go to. You know sometimes you miss your homeland so I think this is a good platform to do that and unite us as Africans and also show America some of our culture.
I feel like home so it feels really great because almost most people growing up would rather go to Africa to pull down myself and I took on the opposite of where I would rather be here from or in africa here to my american people so on it's like my friends from 20 years ago zyau that's what you say the digital is taking place now yeah yeah exactly don't say that all my friends me oh you said that ten years ago about it, don't you to go to
Ghana and spend money here to promote it so it's really like a dream come true and I'm saying and I'm a part of it you know sometimes you will be a part of it or you can see it come true and not be a part of it but be a part of it yes thats big what d o you think that means for
ghana that a person is the next step and i was asked to grow thats more gain more growth more africa it means just that
ghana you know,
ghana's music is reaching higher and higher heights you know and it keeps going further than ever for you to travel so far away from home and see that there is a movement, there is an active one here movement is happening, that's very encouraging, so I think it's a point in the right direction, and Charlie, I'm really happy to be here, it was a great show, I don't know if you've seen it, but a bishop, I will love it.
I think it's amazing. I think it's great that these artists are finally bringing us into the mainstream and also giving us the credit we deserve because sometimes that doesn't always happen, we have appropriation of a lot of our styles and our songs in our in our culture in general and I think , that our artists are finally getting recognition and that's amazing, so yeah I mean I think that's a good platform to start with and who knows where it's going to go. I'm serious it means our music spreads and we get more exposure, not just in
Ghana but around the world and I think it's really great that you're doing it
