Hey guys Matthew, in today's video I'm going to bring you an update on the state of the game. Now it was something I've been pretty funk silent about but now the GDG has tripled their vision yet again, back to 3.15 um I decided it was time to talk about it because there's a good chance I Poe basically going to give up for the 3.19 Lake of Calandra league if nothing comes out in the next few days showing any kind of actual goodwill from ggg because right now our only hope is that investors actually call them and make some changes, because these types of posts are disgusting.

At best, they literally just spit in our faces and um for those who couldn't realize I'm going to go ahead and give you basically a breakdown of what that means, so they're saying they have a massively increased number of rarity bonuses Although rare items are filtered out because no one wants to see them, the rarity bonuses are totally useless, uh, massively increased to rarity, totally useless again league um global increase in drop rate of uniques by 33 again same kind of situation cool we could might be able to outperform our alex in running cards but that's about it and we've increased the price rate of currency items globally by 25.

At those numbers and you might be thinking okay that's pretty good. Well here's the problem, when they say they increased it by 25 they are talking about the current stats which means if you make a card and you are or if you get four alchemies every five cards now you will every five cards get five alchemies, it doesn't really make a difference, and the reason is that yes, those numbers look good, but they don't. That's manipulation, that's literally trying to make us believe something basically by giving us numbers are arbitrary and have absolutely no meaning. There is nothing real here.

There's nothing concrete you know that won't be something most players would ever do, but the absolute estimate is that the loot reduction is about 90-95 percent, that's on the high end, so of course if They want I'll play cards it's probably more of a 50 or 60 percent nerf which I would probably take as the case they're basically half as good as they used to be so when they say they're upping that by 25 if we take what used to be hundred percent they would cut it down by 90 and i am being generous here that means we have 10 percent left now if they say they are actually going to top it by 25 that means that in reality we're only getting 12.5 percent of what we used to have it's ridiculous it's ridiculous nothing changes it's not literally right it's pr at best it's manipulation it's worse and it is simply vo Complete and I'm going to shout out what it is that this entire post is complete okay now let's talk about why that's right let's talk about why you as a potential casual gamer, as a new player, as someone, of who wasn't expected to be making those 100 daily super juice cards or making perfect mirror tier items just because of the crop changes um you might be like ah none of them that affects me man I don't care here is the thing, the

is a trickle-down economy, which means the people at the top take care of the people below them, who take care of the people below them, who take care of the people below them, they right the people like mine I myself who used to make perfect mirror beast items, as we try to make these perfect mirror beast items, we're going to make things that we think are bugs that aren't good enough, but still pretty good h are good now it's these items that aren't good enough but still pretty good will be sold to the folks below us and for those folks it's going to be upgrades and because we're trying to make the absolute best product we're selling these for a lot cheaper than what we could probably sell them otherwise, right because the idea is just keep going like this, basically, until we have the absolute best.

Now the people who buy our items properly, which are good enough but not quite perfect, can get them as upgrades that allow them to sell any item they use to the people below them and what they do , is when they upgrade they sell their current gear for less than it's currently worth. You can see this going down to the absolute lowest aps and what this does is the price keeps going down so the perfect items will always be essentially the cap but after that the price for the good one will but not very perfect items will continue to go down over time because there is more and more supply as people are trying to make the absolute best and there are fewer people who need those upgrades so the price is going to go down now because people are making those upgrades buy and sell theirs, and because there are many people who do the price of the items that can be considered mediocre will also go down, so the people who are below can buy upgrades cheaper, and it is getting cheaper and cheaper and cheaper, and the only thing that actually stays expensive is the very up, so you have the mirror level item, which is like a mirror plus a fee, and then the item that is possible e.g. if it's only 10 or 15 percent worse, it's going to be a quarter of the price of that or maybe even a fifth and then the item that's ten percent worse is going to be a quarter or a fifth of that price, so it's going to be very very cheap to get upgrades which are pretty important now with the power changes to crops with the actual removal of recombiners and all that essentially changes the changes to crafting.

What is happening is that this trickle down economy is going away, the very things that used to be considered mediocre are now what we actually consider good items and what used to be good items are now the new mirror level items and the actual ones Mirror level items that we used to consider Amir level will no longer exist Wow wack, most of these items will never be back as of this patch. This now means that someone who used to be able to buy mediocre items from someone who had bought an upgrade and who sold it for relatively cheap will now no longer be able to access those items, they will use the absolute bare bones objects getting stuck, the kind of stuff that just falls on the ground, life resistance can be a damage stat or something, right really simple pretty junk for your stuff and they're going to be stuck with that because their upgrades are so expensive and forget about perfect items, because those just won't exist anymore, maybe now, ok, i never really needed perfect items, and there i totally agree you never needed a perfect fully mirrored character to have content to be able to do in this game, which just isn't the case.

The people like me and these, the veterans, the ones with no life have, the people who play Poe that you know are content creators or people that you just know absolutely love minimizing their character. These items give us something to look for, strive for a reason to log in every day and play eight hours and earn x amount of money so we can spend that to try and get upgrades on a character we don't need it, but which we want now, so that's what I've talked about and explained why this literally spits in the face of consumers, which is us.
Let's talk about player attention and why this league is dying so fast In fairness these are just the numbers on Steam so don't include the people playing the standalone but we can assume that's the majority of the Players is because ggg and chris wilson said they surpassed the 250,000 peak player count and we can see the top player count in this league, uh, calandra league here, was 152,000 on steam which means that on the standalone client another hundred thousand players weren't on Steam, so we can assume that's actually a majority of the players that play more on Steam han half right probably 60 70 percent of the people are Steam players um, now that we do looking at this number here we're going to look at the actual retention per league so we can see that the highest number is arc nemesis was on steam and the reason is that it was the december league which is now the january league essentially it's the expansion league it's not just a league it's an expansion this brought the new atlas it brought the new and the new scary bosses it dropped it It brought a bunch of new stuff with it just like the new spooky implied blah blah blah we could see it started at the highest point between Calendar Sentinel Arc Nemesis and Expedition which I'm focusing on here, um and despite the fact that It started with the highest number ever, um, actually around the, um, let's see, about a month into the league started, it actually had fewer players than any of the other leagues here, it had fewer players than uh Sentinel it had fewer players or it had about that many players per Expedition although you know it's tired even though it started with a significantly larger number of players so why was the bond in a league so bad what would have been what? should have been pretty good right it was an exp expansion league.
Well the reason player retention was so bad in arc nemesis was because the league basically didn't exist because of arc nemesis right it wasn't particularly rewarding league mechanics and there was very little in terms of quality uh Quality of life, uh, in terms of being able to properly build your own monster, so most people just ignored the league mechanics, and while there was the new Atlas and as long as there were new Eldritch bosses, there was nothing to which we could really rejoice since we had lost proper harvesting by that point and realistically, uh, there was very little to aspire to because even the new elder bosses were considered very, very easy, okay, now that we are looked at the nemesis which as you know is the highest peak but had some of the lowest ties a month into the league started we can actually go ahead and look at the next league which is far ahead of this league considered the worst league ever, which is now Expedition.
Why was Expedition the worst league ever? Well, first of all they basically gave every single skill gem in the game a global nerf of about 30 you know, quite a big nerf, then they nerfed the movement abilities so it felt like you had very slow characters, that Feeling like you're going through molasses, it just felt like you couldn't really dodge these various mechanics because you had such a small amount of strain on your actual movement skills, it made the game feel slow, and that's it , what players don't like, players like Poe players almost trained to play the game efficiently and f the fastest way and that's not something we came up with.
That's how ggg basically taught us how to play and taught us to enjoy the game by giving us this mechanic that was basically constantly timing the mechanic which meant we were going faster character had to be stronger character to be rewarded properly and it all basically started with Legion Loot Blight it was about the same situation where you had to deal enough damage to your character and have enough speed to be able to clear the plague, otherwise you wouldn't be properly rewarded, so there was a delirium where the fog would move if you didn't move fast enough you couldn't really get your rewards, so they trained us, actually fast and efficient ones To be players and they trained us to enjoy the game in that way o When they nerfed so much like all movement skills it was n my opinion oh about half the charges on our bursts of flame, and it was all a pretty big deal, not only was it the change in bottles that made the game completely unplayable, it felt like you'd never had flash charges before , even in relatively juiced maps, and it just felt bad, which is well explained by the fact that, as you can see, it had the worst player counts ever to start it off at a pretty big disadvantage, like you can see now this league expedition was like a year ago so the game was smaller back then uh so it started with a significant downside but if you look at actual player retention,
