Inside the Last Days of The Wendy Williams Show
i think there is no one involved with the
wendy
williams
show
who was happy with the way it ended well this was a show
that had been on the air for 13 years there was a love for wendy
herself so it was heartbreaking seeing her not be a condition of being there, you know, I think a lot of people involved with the show
didn't hear from her for several months, you know, a good chunk of the season, which again was nerve-wracking, and I think there was kind of a general . feeling some kind of bitter sweetness until the end of the show
his health concerns are huge there was a zoom call at the beginning of the season it was about 10 days
after the season was supposed to release it had already been delayed a couple of Weeks ago, there were headlines galore about different kinds of health issues Wendy
was going through, so the heads of the production company set up a zoom call with Wendy
to basically say, check out her talk. she uh reassured her that things were going to be alright uh and that's what they did unfortunately it didn't go as planned and the many people I spoke to described a scenario where she was rambling they were He came back incoherent, he was talking. about oh I'm fine I'm going to be fine everything is going to be fine but it was very clear to everyone watching that she wasn't fine and she wasn't going to be back on the show
anytime soon so she did the exact opposite of what what it was supposed to do, which was allay the fears of the staff, i.e. the producers involved in the wendy
williams
show
waited as long as they could and then possibly even longer for wendy
to return. someone who had performed incredibly well had a fiercely loyal fan base who wanted him back they pushed the stations as hard as they could before they decided they know we have to make a call here and we can't renew the maybe the wendy
williams
show
and at that point they decided to replace her with a show
with Sherry Shepherd, which they told her every time they spoke to her from February until frankly, frankly, very recently, we'd love to work with you again.![inside the last days of the wendy williams show]()
I would love to get it back on the air but we need to know that it's actually okay to get back on the air and the way to do that is to provide a doctor's note it's something that the insurance companies should be able to uh you know support uh such a thing to be able to insure that someone uh in her position uh could get back on the air this is a woman who hasn't been off the air for a whole year they needed to know she was okay they needed a doctor's diagnosis and a note saying she was capable of performing at daily and that was something that, according to all my sources, I couldn't or wouldn't provide, there were a series of phone conversations between
wendy
and the producers this past April where each time w endy didn't realize her show
was ending, she I was, you know, she's a little confused about well, wait a second, what is sherry shepard doing and is my is my I'm going to come right back and every time these producers had to have these conversations heartbreaking ones with her and telling her over and over again that actually uh the show
isn't coming back they hadn't heard from her for eight nine months uh she wasn't fit to get back on the air until now. as you could see, I think there was a lot of kind of debate and discussion about how to actually end the show
and you know people had a lot of opinions about it, but internally there was also a lot of opinion and a lot of back and forth about saying goodbye to a show
. without her hosts um and she's very much alive um and it was all considered the only thing that wasn't considered was bringing Wendy
back so I don't know if that's something that's relevant or interesting to you![inside the last days of the wendy williams show]()
