macOS Ventura auf 10 Jahre altem Mac | 4K
yes moin from Bremen Michael here from Apfeltalk welcome back to a new video on our channel it's time for some crafting again or let's say a bit of experimentation i have a MacBook Air from 2012 back then you still had your MacBooks with lots of colorful stickers attached yes , I know, but actually it's a nice device with Core i5 CPU, but unfortunately for some time it's not in the MacOS update cycle anymore, which means that the current version of MacOS is no longer running on this device, it's a Mac OS high Sierra that I just installed. and in this video we want to bring today the latest Mac OS namely Mac OS
Ventura and come on MacOS
Ventura has just been released and as always when Apple brings new operating systems to the market older machines i.e.
Max older. , they are discontinued and no longer supported, so that's with it too. It hasn't been there for a long time, as MacOS montrain didn't work for me either. hr and great sir it was also not the last system here in my opinion after Katharina and but there are solutions on the internet we hope that we can at least test this device on the latest version of Mac OS MacOS
Ventura 13.0 which I had before But there I still have some tips for you that you should definitely keep in mind because I keep getting questions. We have done it several times.
For example, I have my nice little white Macbook on which I have already installed many versions of Mac OS. and these videos are also very popular, there are always many questions. I already answered these questions in a video. I've linked to you once now, but the same things keep coming up, so I'd like to say it again at this point, most importantly. the question is and that's always the issue i did it and it doesn't work for me Of course I can't do anything with that error message, but that's why I tell you to check beforehand the Opencore Legacy Patcher that we used for this to see if is your Mac supported and to what extent is it supported either maybe it's only partially supported for example if there's a problem because if it's not supported then we don't even need to start with that that's the most important point the second point which is asked again and again and i would also like to clarify that again at this point i will come back so i did that it also worked for me to some extent but still not satisfied.
I would like to recover my old system. This question is asked very often in the comments. and i can only answer yes if you have backed up if you have backed up your old system then it will come back or if you do a clean install ie fresh install eg withhotera or something like that n, but all your data is gone so you can do it in this context so i would like to say again at this point no backup no pity so if you didn't backup sorry because I can't help you. so OR you just hope your data is saved somehow because that's hard otherwise the next question that comes up from time to time is can I specifically help you with this so personally so to speak I unfortunately have to decline at this point because I don't have time.
That's why I keep making these videos and always bringing new aspects so everything is really covered. Unfortunately, I can't sit down with you individually through video and install it for you, which may just be a hour for you, then many, many hours if I did it with everyone, so sorry, this is all more or less a feasibility test. We'll try it, we'll have fun if it works, if it doesn't it's not so bad, so the last thing to say is is this your productive Mac, for example, is this MacBook Air your only device? and you also have money with it earned then i strongly recommend you don't do it then don't do it because there might be a good chance that you will lose the data you will have to start over that you will have to wipe everything and that would be very annoying if that it's your positive device, so enough of that.
Let's start now, a little tip up front, you have to do all of this with the power supply plugged in because you never know how good old Mac batteries are. let the Mac shut down, then with the power cord plugged in, open the open collegacy patcher website you can find all the links and in the video description and let's take a look there First of all, whether our Mac is compatible or not, Here we have a MacBook Air, like I said, from 2012 and it's fully compatible so we don't have to worry about it and if you checked it's very important like I said you should always do that We get questions about this all the time with people saying I tried this on my Mac and something isn't working.
I always refer to this list ok so we will download the latest version at the time of this video it is 0.5.1 and not all the old ones will be there or Max is supported you can see a little overview of the devices that are supported here For example, my white Macbook is unfortunately not supported yet. it will download the GUI variant which is between 5 and 600 megabytes and then move it to the program directory sorry the approach here is getting so crazy it wasn't really what we wanted ok let's push the Open n Core Patcher in the program directory and from there we can also run it MacOS is always a bit finicky about apps not being loaded from the app store Maybe rightly so, in this case it checks from time to time a message appears about whether we have too many feel like running it and then of course we have to say yes of course we want to run it otherwise we wouldn't have done everything here so open it and then we have to take care of the USB stick that's what I wanted to also mention that we need at least 16 GB.
I still have a 32 gigabyte device in this case and that's a USB 3 device which should really work as you can see this is the latest version of the open call Legacy Patcher. 051, at least at the time of recording this video, change relatively frequently, so feel free to check the website from time to time to see if there isn't a newer version yet. In general, the part always consists of the same steps, here we see that we have a MacBook Air 5.2, we just look at the list, which is compatible and what we have to do now, we want to replace this top with
Ventura now, that's why we want download a Mac OS installer, so there's the menu item create a Mac OS installer and then we have two options: we've already downloaded a user's existing Mac OS installer or we want a store now, in this case because the newly installed one we don't have that means we downloaded one it takes a moment and then we get this message we can load big MacOS Sir manterei or
Ventura and we decide to go straight to
Ventura so we load MacOS 13.0 and yes at this point you can make a coffee now or go out to walking depending on your internet connection speed n that will take a while, you can see my download speed here and it's downloading 12GB so we'll see you again when it's loaded, i feel moments later i think there is nothing more boring than looking at download bars or download numbers so you can be glad you are watching this video where i cut everything short.
At this point, this installation package is downloaded almost or more than 12 GB, verified, and then copied to the program directory, and depending on the speed of the SSD, it can be a few. minutes for me it took about 20 minutes and since we now want to transfer the system to the USB stick, of course we have to plug it in and then we can transfer the newly downloaded installer directly to this USB stick as you have seen 32 gigabytes that lure is easy enough for Mac OS
Ventura and the program also makes this process very easy for us with r just click on Flash Installer, then the MacOS Installer selection you just downloaded appears again, this is this, we just downloaded
Ventura and now, of course the question is which usb stick we want to put it on, there is only one there in this regard That is relatively easy Attention important note the usb stick will be deleted which means if it has data on it it will be gone afterwards so you should take a new one or one that can be deleted here this one can definitely be deleted and now there is the password query so the system can also eda to access the device it takes a moment just the speed of the device and of course also the USB interface I think this MacBook Air has a USB 3.0 interface but now we can have coffee again that's second today 6 by what the pure mac os installer has now been installed on the usb stick that hello If it gets to us but not yet it's a normal
ventura usb bootable stick we could use it to boot a compatible mac using good ones but we have a mac not supported and that's why the following happens: open core changes bootloader and we have to put it in Change device, that's why it says install open core on disk then open core is created for this mac first and then You have the option to install to disk and all existing disks are listed here.
I have the internal hard drive here and I have the USB stick here and I'm going to install it on the USB stick first, but the most important thing is that we'll have to install it again on the internal drive later, but we'll do it when
Ventura is running and in order to to install it we have to enter the password again that's all but a process that is now very fast after the installation process now we can boot from the USB stick as it works I have already shown you several times but I would like to go back to To do this, in order to boot from the USB stick, you have to reboot with the Alt or Options key held down. later when the start time comes this key needs to be pressed let's do it now you will see it takes a few seconds depending on the mac and os so just wait until the sound comes and keep pressing until the good selection comes , you'll see there was the sound and a short time later the good selection comes and then you can release the button probably the experts will tell you and you can release the button now it doesn't matter after holding the alt cup it shows these three options so I can continue starting my macOS.
I can install Mac OS Start
Ventura or e-fi Boot or iBoot depending on what you want to call it and that's exactly what we have to do if we were to turn off this app there would be an error message immediately because Mac OS
Ventura is officially no longer supported by this app MacBook so we select if iBoot to make sure the new bootloader from the USB stick is used and MacOS actually boots and then we get these two options that we can now boot our Mac OS normally which would have no advantage, or we can start installing Mac OS
Ventura at this point and we just do that we don't really consider them except for the second menu item install Mac OS
Ventura here that's what we want to do basically this is a recovery program , so we could just as well install blank Mac OS
Ventura on a new Mac, but if you do it that way, doing what we're doing now is just replacing the system with a new one and all of our programs and data as long as it's compatible is preserved and that's why we want to click continue here it's all a little hard at this point it's just a brand new system what we're already here it's MacOS
Ventura this recovery part is already programmed into the new system we want you to know that if you've already installed macOS on a stock Mac then it looks almost exactly the same and that's exactly how we do it here at this point, so it's not a big secret now.
We've already done more than the important steps of writing the bootloader to the USB stick, so you probably already know that if you've ever reinstalled a Mac OS. At this point I'm coming here because I have many different things. here I still have an SD card here, the USB stick and the internal disk to choose from and I use it for that and then we can j Now have the next coffee and wait a bit because that can take a moment and we hardly have to do anything else because now it will reboot several times and then the system will be installed, but let yourself be surprised, no, no man Slater, it can also It happens sometimes that the installation with an error message is interrupted, as was the case with me at the moment, so I rebooted it again with the alt key held down and then this menu came up and it's about we still want to install mac os and that's why we are now using mac os installer on the left and then go ahead if that happens to you you need to react accordingly, that's sometimes the case with such old devices and we're still talking about beta software here at Open Colleague Patcher so please it's working now it's years later hey and we're pari but later please no p Lose your patience there is Mac OS
Ventura on the 2012 MacBook Air now we can sign in there because we just did an update so to speak we don't have a fresh install because the account has also been preserved it takes a little time to boot session for the first time, but you know that from the installationnormal Mac OS because we haven't finished a Also please don't turn off yet in this video there is still an important step to be taken which I'm going to show you now.
That's not good. From Open core Legacy we were told that we boot
Ventura from a USB stick and of course it only works like this if the USB stick is always plugged in, but of course we don't want that, we don't always want to boot our device with a USB stick plugged in, it's so we have to do one last step now, and I just announced that we have to redo this modified bootloader. So also write the open university bootloader to the internal drive of this Mac and we'll do that now, it's offered here right away so we don't do much. nothing is being built again so the corresponding files are adapted for the Mac and now it is time to install again to disk we already saw that when we were still on the road underhotera and now we are going to install it of course not on the USB memory, but on the internal drive and that's showing here we have it here which is the internal hard drive which is where we booted from so at least it was worth booting or that's why it's blue and I still have the SD card here it's not interesting we want to install it now on the internal disk and there also in the ifi or Evi directory, call it whatever you want and enter the mac password once and something great happens.
It's up to me and maybe I misspelled the password, no it worked which is great now we can take the device out I'll do it without ejecting then you'll see no we do it differently we boot now and take it out during the process Boot. then shutdown so now we'll take it out you see the mac no longer has a usb stick it's here and it's booting and you look great what's to come is also often asked what möch I'll also just explain why Open Core Legacy it has a default active option which confuses a lot of you and i want to briefly explain what that means i have to bypass it a bit because it takes a while until it shows up is booting now it takes a bit longer the first time we have to boot the computer for the last time with the Alt key held down, unfortunately that's the way it is because it somehow doesn't realize which disk it's supposed to boot from, but it knows what the problem is. you don't have to do that anymore in the future that's all now just on first boot and you can see there are two possibilities it called macOS data from internal disk for whatever reason but from start with ifi or Evi boot here too a small SSD symbol which means you are now on the internal SSD.
We have to select it once because we never have to do it again. It stops and goes away on its own for about two seconds Zack and now the Mac starts up normally and you can see that it's our MacBook Air running Mac OS
Ventura the latest version of MacOS so you can see I'm not talking nonsense here's the window where it says exactly that now we're Mac OS
Ventura installed yeah there's still one thing to do so now it works now you can use everything like this so in theory you could turn off the video now but if you still have a minute i want to show you something else because we're asked again and again because at boot something interesting happens i just restart this computer and normally that's how it is when you restart a mac then i get the apple logo and the computer boots normally in this case because now we are using open universities and the following happens: the computer comes up lasts for a moment with this white screen and then this menu appears here it stops there for a moment now i have pressed a cup is that's why it stays here permanently normal you stay here for two seconds and only then you boot up we have that very often people ask how do i get rid of it and i would like to show you that when you start the computer again and show you how to do it, you can turn it off permanently and then the computer behaves like any normal Mac.
What you just saw is the so-called discpicker, which actually only appears when you press the ALT key on the computer, but for normal operation, this is actually superfluous, so we start to open the Open Collegiacy Patcher core again and we go to settings and the only setting here is Show dis Boot Picker my name is Show Boot Picker Boot Picker there is a check mark if we go back to the main menu and once say image and install open kernel and also again a Install on the boot drive so again on the internal drive now it's already selected but we indented it then we don't have the problem anymore.
I'll show you here once you enter the password, then you'll be briefly in the EFI EFI shares. or EFI part of the disk we wrote restart the computer and you will see that nothing happens or this menu is no longer shown but the computer boots normally as you know from every Mac you see there is the apple maybe the bar comes and then it boots normally Open Core Legacy or in this case Mac OS
Ventura yes you have seen that it is not that difficult to install MacOS
Ventura on old hardware thanks to Open core Legacy this is hardly a problem of course something can always go wrong because none at the beginning I also explained in detail what to do so that you can return in case of a problem or everything as a craft anyway.
Maybe you only understand the project on the weekend because it's fun on a productive Mac. I said at the beginning that you shouldn't use it and report it, but feel free to write about it in the comments below about what you experienced with the Mac you brought. MacOS
Ventura makes everything work, maybe something is not working, please, if you have problems, don't write it just doesn't work, then I can't help you either, you would have to write what Mac and what exactly is not working, that would be very helpful, as I said Unfortunately, i can't give individual support because i don't have time for that but that's what these videos are for, thanks so much for watching, thumbs up and free subscription too, and then see you in one of the next videos, until then bye
