What made 'Granny' Queen Elizabeth II special to Royal grandchildren
It's important to remember that there is a family mourning the loss of their mother, their grandmother, their great-grandmother, so to help remember the
queen
by those who knew her best, here are some of her royal
grandchildren
in their own words about what
made
her granny
so special
imagine that when you crossed the river and through the woods this was grandma's house you went to buckingham palace thinking big about granny
is very easy because she is an incredibly passionate woman who has transcended every generation and you know we're so lucky that we get to not only think of her as an amazing queen
and amazing leader but also an amazing grandmother to someone like me growing up with queen
like my grandmother you look back on the history and see, have you really done?![what made granny queen elizabeth ii special to royal grandchildren]()
Is this really happening? I think the importance comes in the future when you look back and leave. This was her reign and this is
what
happened. and how stunning she is despite all the splendor and glitter her grandchildren
insist that behind the palace walls she was no different than any other grandmother you can see her here on her 90th birthday telling william to stand up on the balcony from the palace great grandson george called his gang we admire like any granddaughter or grandmother with a little something added i think its always when we are spending family time we always have fun there is kind of a different dynamic in every family william and harry served in the army of great britain they had to look at their grandmother differently because of my time in the service the greatest respect i have for her not only as a grandmother you know she was my boss for 10 years and i saw it very much like that but after her military service was over look what
happened when grandson harry made
a promo video for his charity the invictus games for wounded warriors got the obamas to play along and the ab uela remember when you told us to take him to the invictus games careful what
you wish for boom prince harry knew only one answer could beat the white house how you approached your grandmother he didn't want to have to ask the queen
why not I did I don't want you to know I cornered her but when I showed her the video and said she was right what
do we have to do let's do this oh really please what
goes on behind closed doors in the life of any person, I think it should be. private so she's managed that balance quite well there are little moments where we can just be a very small family doing little things like playing cards or what
ever we do and she likes to have her time to do it because it's the time when we can all just hang out together and it's quite nice that she taught her granddaughters a British card game called patience which is the hardest game ever and I don't have much patience um so when we play it's pretty funny because she sits there for a good hour and a half and i'll take her on and she'll win a few times and it'll be like we've grown our whole lives going to our moral and ringing for christmas and it's the most unbelievable time special
to us because spending that time just with her and our family as just ourselves not with everyone watching in balmoral where we go in the summer there are the silly raspberries Most unbelievably amazing dresses on the whole property so when we were little we used to go with her and pick the raspberries and then she used to have jam and tea just as the queen
supported them they tried to be there for her when the britannia wall was dismantled in 1997 that happened she was incredibly happy traveling in britannia and it was a very universal and really emotional day for her to be at the retirement ceremony i think it was one of the few times she cried in public princesses and princes may live in a different world but like anyone else they take their life lessons from their grandparents they have set an incredible example to others to follow their leadership their duty their sacrifice their selflessness their love for country i think they really shine through their determination their duty but also his sense of fun and his love for life i think those are some of the things i would really like to take with me i move on she has taught me to always be true to myself and to stand up and be strong i am who i am this is who i am this is what
my opinion is this is what
i believe in but i am not going to tell you anything other than your duty and the way she was raised is very, very important, she puts her own personal feelings and her own personal thoughts aside and leaves. what
is for the greater good what
is for the good of the country and in some cases what
is for the good of the world and I believe that regardless of whether she was the queen
or not, I believe that everyone and anyone who committed to the public life in this way or has dedicated dedicated themselves to duty, I think they deserve a big pass on the back and credit for that example, if people would take away just a little bit of that in their own lives, you know, I think the world it would be a better place![what made granny queen elizabeth ii special to royal grandchildren]()
