Will England WIN the T20 World Cup? 🧐 | World Cup final preview 🏏

well it's the day after last night and what a night it was in Adelaide when

England

swept India aside to make it to the T20

world

final

so I'm a cell phone and NASA traveled here to Melbourne

England

of course ,

will

face Pakistan Weather permitting, we are here, but your team is not here. No, therefore, only in Baggage in another city. unbelievably impressive I think it's the performance that

England

have been looking for the whole tournament that came from Pakistan huh they competed really well cutting and changing their team and then they played Australia in a bilateral series and put up something really convincing. but since then we haven't seen anywhere near the best of Josh Butler's team but against India it was as good a performance as I can remember of the

England

white ball team playing and considering The context of the game is the semi-

final

of the

World

Cup.

I think it's as accomplished as any performance. Can you remember a better overall performance by

England

and White Ball Cricket? No, I think that more sums it up pretty well for me. I think it was mind blowing last night as well and to put it in a pressure situation like that against India you know one of the most successful T20 teams I have with all the experience and their ranges in T20 cricket and tough players who have to produce the goods but also the injury list i mean

england

lost two key players in that game leading up to that game in milan and wood but also before the injuries they had three or four so it wasn't like the

england

team .

It shows the depth of T20 English White Ball Cricket something that started so long ago lost one or two players you know seven eight nine years ago and was like okay this is a concern now if you lose a player on the eve. of the game someone can step in and just cut the goods down really and at that point with the entry of Chris Jordan I mean I know there are other main acts we'll talk about but we need to make sure we give him credit because he's played a game since August after of a bad rest. to his finger in a

World

Cup semi-

final

against India Josh but we're asking about three straight to death I mean what a way to get back to international cricket yeah that sums up the guy I mean he's the ultimate professional he's Ultimate Team man, he has amazing experience but even with all that on the bench he made it to such an important game and played a pivotal role in the bowling at the end yes he snuck in midway which I thought he was a good move from Joss. um, he certainly came in and certainly fulfilled his potential and his role, um, but I also think that helped with

England

's bowling up to that point.

I think the first 14 15 hours put incredible pressure on a very tentative Indian team the likes of you know current walks and Stokes on the power play and then the two spinners just creating things that get the ball moving and creating a bit of doubt to push India back a bit. What decisions and tactics did Josh Butler make so well? the other night I think up front getting the audio of Rasheed with those right hands as I know Owen has started sometimes with Adil against India up front with his forehands I thought he introduced it at exactly the right time because I knew Richard Pant was lurking at some point, but also the way Ariel has been bowling of late, um, I thought his initial, the field setup he had was an attacking field, he had that slip in him, it's only immediately established when Rahul and Rohit are hitting, you know, two

world

-class cue balls. players just having that shows your faith in wakes and curran and your seams the way he rotated his bowlers his matchups were perfect not ideal bowling jordan threes at the end most of the time you want maxi mom of two but that it's Jordan's ability, he told me earlier when we were debating the side the day before, that's what Jordan does anyway, so it's not like you're asking someone who is out of their comfort zone.

I thought Curran was introduced at exactly the right times from the right and Liam Livingston in balmo because again Liam Livingston the clashes and righties were absolutely spot on it's weird because we all talked about the short boundary square and even the last three or four overs I think India had two sixes and that shows the captain has the right bowlers on the far right but it also shows how well those bowlers have bowled and their lengths and their lines they have protected those short bounds against . some big hitters. I'm just going to go back to the point where Nash made sure to put the piece of paper reminds me of your friend Brendan McCullum.

Was it the pie tin when he put up three or four little pieces of paper and that's when I rethinked, oh my gosh, he's turning corners and he didn't actually do anything, it's quite a psychological thing, isn't it absolutely huh? and certainly, from a captain's point of view, you talk about tactics and strategy and you know that tactics is recognizing something, an opportunity to do something and implement your plan and then strategy is actually recognizing when there's nothing to do when you're trying to create something out of nothing and I think Joss did that yesterday, he didn't change throughout the entire power play but he certainly kept slipping for as long as he could and certainly when the run rate stayed below seven and over which he's controlling that period of the game very, very well, he read it perfectly because the longer you can keep that, the more doubt you can create like What about NASA's draw decision?
will england win the t20 world cup world cup final preview
I mean, he explained to us last night that he was humming and horrified and looked at the stats, the stats weren't coming in. in his favor to win the toss, but also to take Coley out of the equation and have him try to set a goal. not sure but i liked the fact that he followed his instinct, you can feed all the information in the

world

that the stat of 11 captains in the 11 games that won the toss have lost the game regardless of what they do . He already did, he said he kind of laughed and looked up and hoped it wasn't him, but again he backed his strength, he fancied a Chase and again, considering the opposition he's playing against, it also works in his favor and , more importantly, that last point is vital, see India other than when they know to say

England

on the first and they went and crushed 200 then those openers and that top order can't fight they have to stomp and you know those Indian players have the skill you can't tell I roll Vera um that lineup they would have gone harder faster and that's how they should have played we're in bats first they don't do that for some reason they get into their shell a little bit they look a passing score so Arthur made a good comment last night at the end about it's not about the Pascal it's about the winning score and a passing score against

England

won't be good enough with this batting lineup or from

England

the other thing about the tactics when I was watching Joss operate the pitch is the big role the cutting alley plays as his lieutenant and Josh almost allows him to move the pitch left and right so very noticeable and not just noticeable.
We've talked about that when Joss stays on a faster pitcher and he's 30 or 40 yards from Jordan at the death of Innings then you need Stokes and mow maybe or Mo because Stokes

will

be out of bounds but there were actually times when joss was up against adil and liam livingston and mo was in to win a good captaincy with a slip because he didn't start with a slip in the early stages of the tournament but he has to slide on his spinner and it was mo and mo was two yards behind Joss waving the fielders because Josh has a lot on his plate but then again that's what this side knows leadership isn't about one man or woman leadership is about 11 players from Cricket everyone taking responsibility and I think Joss is quite happy saying carry on if you see anything please mention it you don't know him you know him better than me he doesn't strike me as some sort of captain to go look I'm in charge what are you doing there back M or where you know he wants to give people responsibility they do and he wants to empower the players around him to get better and take responsibility for making big decisions because ultimately he

will

feel that when individually or under pressure or the team is under pressure, you have to be able to think on your feet.
You know you look back at South Africa throughout the

World

Cups when they had to think for themselves or think on their feet under pressure, they couldn't do it and certainly when I was captain and I was in the environment and the culture that we tried to create. , we recognize it as something we could potentially improve on and I guess the other attribute that Joss has is that he's not afraid of other people improving around him, you have a lot of captains and leaders around you. the

world

who wants to be the best player on the team and when other people rise up in stature or threaten his status, they pat them down a bit and want to be the main man who is not only but how he wants people to grow him around him, question what you're doing and ultimately just decide what's best for the team.
A bit of psychology, captaincy and leadership would be to have someone like Marine Ali by your side when you were captain. Do you want to be the guy? No, don't start moving my gardeners. I have the plan here. I set it up with ebola. bowlers want their pitch they know the cafe would be like I don't want that chute or caddy or whatever yeah that's fine but you know make sure you get it right if you're going to set up your own pitch no he had absolutely nothing The issue I had a problem with was often in our era when things were going well, there was a lot of art, a lot of advice and a lot of gestures and all of a sudden we were on the Australia 420 for three in Brisbane on day one. words don't come to me all 10 other cricketers then that's when you really find out about your team and that's when you find out that your teammates and leaders are in those tough times under pressure so bowling and tactics take notice. in that was the first part but what about the run chase which was brutal yes amazing really that good. as joss and alex have played in the tournament and probably throughout their career when you consider the threat of ashdeep singh and bhubaneshwarakuma with the ball swinging it swayed a lot as it has for them all tournament but they counted it down and went down .
Wicket's rishabhan came up for I think a ball or two and that was it. I can't see why he didn't stay up to try to catch the batteries in his crease as the ball moves. It's certainly what

England

batsmen would do. I didn't like it but once they got going there and particularly on that first change Joss played some beautiful shots for offside then worked them down the leg side and from then on he's amazing I mean , Alex Hales played this shot at Bubba Kuma restaurant it was a knuckleball came down the wicket and the ball can be seen in the slalomots moving slowly through the air and hit it long after the longest side of the ground for six and it's only th The standard continues to rise higher and higher.
The skill level is incredible, but you sit there and question India's planning. They had a plan A. They didn't have a plan B. It was almost like they were shocked if it changes. we

will

take wickets and if you know we have no other plan so

England

were great forced a lot of pressure on India and made them perform poorly but they came back with nothing so I knew it was a lot of money if you had bet to play against India in a semi and Phil jumped back on a triple wouldn't go in we were chatting on the way here that performance Fantastic downside is some of the other hitters haven't.
I had a lot of time in the crease, yes I heard Hales and Butler scored 400 runs between them, Livingston's middle order Ali Brook and Stokes faced 160 balls between the four of them throughout the tournament so quite a bit. from a victim of your own success story there is nothing you can do about it, you could possibly look back at the New Zealand game or the Sri Lanka game and probably even more so the Sri Lanka game in the Ireland game and to think if there was one of the two that has contributed 40 or 50 and you cross the line with confidence that the value of the balls they've faced goes up in stock but it's been a bit hit and miss and when you look I know that we look at the Pakistan threat but if they get past most of the

England

runs which is Hales and Butler um they

will

ask questions that's a good point because I was looking at um I was just interviewing Shadow Carney that's why we are in the team room of pakistan hotel right now.
This is his team room. that Matty Hayden just came downstairs to drop off his laundry and our Aussie cameraman always got better everything Matty can you please sign this for me gesturing wildly behind the camera what do you mean this is this is his crew I mean the crew room Keys has got like agolf simulation because yes we have a lot of chairs yes this is his team room so I have no idea what he was going to do. completely out of place but yes Shaheen Shas. I did a little research. Shane shone in 60 odd T20 games in 20 odd times, that's one in three coming to wicket in the first he got the other day.
Butler um and say hello to Shaheen back in Rhythm finding his fitness he can get one and then salt comes in and then that mid order is slightly exposed but we were saying the same thing about bhuvaneshwar Kumar we did those stats last game boovy got you know that Joss went out five times Well Josh dealt with him and he got 13 of it but there's that threat Shaheen Sharif's new ball threat something else you were talking about the way down but we'll come back to that because I was just another Little bit of the game I'd like to get your thoughts on obviously a large Indian support contingent is very very loud and they were very loud at first and then they got pretty quiet as Butler and Hale started doing their thing and then h ardik I was whipping the crowd into a frenzy and then two balls later Josh smoked it for four and it went boom and I felt like looking around the Indian outfielders and I felt like they all fell on that point. or also yes it's kind of a debate isn't it true that Coley does it a bit when he's in test match mode and gets the crowd revving up? lift you a thing, I know and again I repeat, I don't know, Josh Butler, that kind of thing, there are certain people that I would cheer on in the crowd and try, and it was like African AF no matter how much you hit him or whatever. no impact Brian Lara the more you threw him the better he became as a player Josh Butler with the shock of the crowd and the cheering and the sleds he's too good a man to worry about that kind of thing and the reaction was typical Jossy to smash the next ball off the ball after four but you're ri We fought with the crowd we took, we talked about airing yesterday over the crowd and silencing the crowd and apart from hardik pandia's five overs at the end

England

pulled that off perfectly, how impressive it has been in terms of showing the character of the team. see gabba beat new zealand in a must win game scg must win the game and then of course the semi

final

.
I mean there are slight mirror images of what you guys went through in 2019. figure this out and then let's start over, you've certainly been at Spades in the last three games and when you consider the game they're going to have to play against Pakistan in the

final

on Sunday it never goes quite as well as planned and certainly with the rain that's predicted for Sunday and possibly Monday they'll be exposed in different stages of the 40 plus so it's important to have tested that character throughout the group stages just to reassure everyone within the group that when you're not necessarily against the wall, but when you need to ask someone or the team for more, you have something to give instead of nothing because I've played on many teams before and you get used to making a bad decision. when you really need to make a simple decision on the pressure to get you to the next stage instead of looking too far and making a bad decision and this

England

team have done that maybe you don't know but I've never been to a

Final

the

World

Cup.
I don't know if I've mentioned that or anyone else, but tell us what, yeah, um, so what would you have done? Guessing what it would be, just tell people what would happen between that and the draw on Sunday night, how would you manage the team, yeah, so certainly things would have a much more relaxed feeling and a feeling of confidence around the group, everyone they

will

be delighted and that feeling

will

start to wear off a bit probably today when the team lands in Melbourne and everyone checks in and all the chaos of a day trip starts to unfold and certainly me as captain and knowing the players inside out Outside, I thought it was important to get around the guys who would already be thinking about Sunday, so you guys are getting too nervous and anxious because you're thinking too much about the future instead of how I'm going to prepare tomorrow and then use as little energy as possible. on Sunday. possible before the game so that's a start and then you're already talking to medical staff about the possible fitness of your two players who have been lost in Daven Milan and Mark Wood again continued selection talks between you and the analyst for the head coach and the other team coaches and then that brings you to tonight which is without even touching or talking to the team which is important because you don't want to talk for the sake of spe I'm talking about and you don't want to download any unnecessary shape you might be wearing as captain of your team so it's important to wake up fresh which

will

be tomorrow give a clear message hopefully in a position to announce the team make sure. everyone is sure they are all set plans are in place training no it

will

not be a full training all day before a game so two days for a game if you have time as we have been in shape throughout this tournament Josh Butler and Matty Moore have run a similar system where

England

push really hard and almost to the point of limiting what they can do the next day, so it's just a test session, a bit of a confidence booster to make sure they There is absolute clarity. a bit of a laugh and a joke the guys like to play football so they

will

um and then any follow up messages by the time i get to the hotel which rarely happens because i personally like to do things on the pitch so that everything is box you go there and then you feel prepared and ready for the next day I love it when you talk about not wasting energy the morning of the game in this case it

will

be Sunday morning a game at night there is a lot of time when you you wake up and then you have to wait and then you have to think 50 about the

World

Cup.
I know the one at Lords was delayed a bit due to rain, but you've also been to

World

Cups that have been evening games in T20, what's the key to not losing an ex? Expansion of energy you need for seven o'clock, when you probably want to break around 11:30. Yeah um I think the key is answering questions that you'll be asking in your head so making sure you know you could sit in your room and think oh what if this happens what if Josh takes the ball from me new or what have I have to play sixth and raise all six in this tournament so far. but

england

have gone through all these processes they

will

not do anything out of the ordinary inary on sunday so to me if i were the captain i would reassure the players that this has continued to be a role this is what creating an image

will

look like and a picture for that player, either Mark Wood, if he's bowling against Barbara's arm early. whatever it is what field could you say to reassure your Wicket protection square this is what the picture looked like and even that kind of picture you set

will

help people breathe and think a little more and eventually again, you could access the psychologist, if there is more or more that the player needs on game day, it can come from anyone within the team. yours, but there are some who like to congregate in groups of four or five and they won't necessarily talk about Cricket, they'll just go talk about things that put a smile on their faces, maybe there are a lot of families here right now, um, families are always good for teams in that, the other day, in an interview, right? and things that you can laugh about and just normalize everything because a lot of times teams and players take yourself too seriously, what about the captaincy?
Because you must have been thinking as soon as you woke up on the day of the

final

, what am I going to do? Tactics What were the matches? I mean just waking up on Sunday morning. It must be so hard for him not to be somewhere and go crazy. Who I am? So what if that happens and you start playing the game in your head in the morning? and then you're knackered at night. about with hi s headphones just getting his own space he could do that today but certainly when I was Captain he always worked from behind what's the worst that can happen?
We're going for 80 on our power play, who do I turn to who are they? My men, what are the chances that the boys

will

come in and then work right again? What is the best scenario? and then they always end with a positive to get dumped. I'll go work on my head, go and do something I enjoy, come back, write some more notes, and then that's probably interesting, fascinating, actually, right before I look forward. I just want to end India if Josh Butler. I had a very good day as captain. What kind of day did Rohit Sharma have? um captaincy as you said they did not have a plan B with the ball. um.
I would be more critical as a batsman actually I mean he is one of the great white ballers ever I mean he has two double hundred eds I think someone correctly you know he is just remarkable at 50 over Cricket obviously and for he may have just been off Nick a little bit like Barbara has been in this tournament or whatever, but for him he was on the Pitch side, we do. that courtside commentator thing and he was just nervous he just didn't look like Rohit Sharma you know it was nervous tackling and nick man tackling and it's easier said than done he should have tried to hit back hit on Nick instead he tried to survive survive survive chewing deliveries 60 odd for two after ten overs so I think he's more batsman than his captaincy I think that's what let me down because he's so much better than that Rohit Sharma like batsman what kind of being challenged in pakistan again we were just wandering around here and Shaheen sharafridi seemed out of shape at the start of the tournament you know he wanted to play he kind of rushed it seems like he got his mojo back and stuff and he's very dangerous. ous in those overs like NASA said you're going to be two or three down very very quickly yes I think that's the worst case scenario for

England

I think if Pakistan had the option to make early gains I think the only side that haven't made early gains have taken more than one wicket in uh one Wicked on the power play in Every Game Bar I think it was Bangladesh and Adelaide or something so they

will

look to take early wickets and they automatically have a plan B every one of your beats throw up and 90 miles an hour is kind of fast so they can come here unlike india could they also have a wrist spinner in shadab that

will

play?
They

will

try and Bowl

England

out because if

England

came back well for 20 overs they scored 200 or even more and I don't see Pakistan chasing them they are the best bowling attack in the tournament they are definitely bowling they haven't turned the tables park nobody, even that game against India. with eig Balls to go what India needed 28 they played brilliantly up to that point against the best batting line up even without Milan and the best. I've been home injured or whatever and all the other things that have happened, this is still the best hitting lineup in the tournament. uh the difference is i think India had to be above average because of their bowling attack Pakistan

will

feel if they are up to par with their bowling and they played pretty well in this tournament yeah and they didn't feel particularly well in the seven games in pakistan that just happened so they played well to make them feel that and that's where again barbara and rizwan

will

play a little old fashioned compared to hails and butler

will

chew up deliveries but they have been prolific in them assuming that and obtaining 100 associations.
I think those two if going well then the middle order and all that Harris Mohamed Harris is coming up yeah and a bit of Youth 21 swagger and swagger I think he's not afraid of the situation sometimes when you're younger , it's like you debuted in a test or whatever. You don't understand the importance of that. It's like a game of cricket. gets older sometimes it becomes more important so that would be a young guy reaching a

final

actually to me it would be like watch out for this guy he could come in and smash 50 out of 20 balls and take this game away from you so change in as much for him as you are doing for barber and rizwan but their bowling attack is what keeps them in this tournament not their batting lineup there is always talk of whether pakistan can post halls. they're still in the game, yes they're still in the game and again we mention that

England

's middle order have previously not faced many balls and have built a lot of confidence throughout this tournament and with the potential weather forecast that exists regardless of w hat the wicked is like there

will

be something on sale um if its raining sunday anytime they dont have the covers here that you roll up in and the wicker can breathe its tap holden he absolutely sweats yes they do but if its underneath of that for a long time and you miss the shot and you find yourself three down.
I think that's probably the way Pakistan

will

beat

England

if they can and they silence the crowdagain. It's going to be a lot, as we saw in the scg. I don't think the MCG

will

be full there

will

be a bit of ticket abandonment at the moment there are quite a few on places like eBay and Facebook halfway through Run Chase I can imagine but it

will

still be pretty full and there

will

be a lot of green shirts but

England

deal with Adelaide, they're going to have to deal with that at the MCG, but unfortunately they're going to end up with a couple of small negatives, the potential and probably Mark Wood absence is pretty big because I was thinking about those seven. series of games in Pakistan and did not play all the games b But he was hard on them but the Batters for Pakistan and it worked.
I think when you look at the conditions here it also suits him well and probably works against someone like Chris Jordan in Death Bolling's Yorkers straight into the MCG is so short. there's very little room for error so if Mark Wood isn't fit you might even see someone like Dave

Will

ey come in to bat and then you can bowl it out and Chris walks into the bowling of death towards the Wicket which forces Pakistani batsmen to bat. and create sack opportunities so there might be another selection question for Josh Butler so just to be clear it would be Adelaide because of the dimensions you probably want an extra bowler MCG because of the dimensions you probably want someone could take wickets on the power play absolutely and it just goes without saying that you have to have those um Ground Dimensions working in your favor in the big games because if you make basic mistakes and get hit on the short side all the time that face this fascinating and then we should show up and say save 11 try not to lose try not to lose our fifth game in a row please we just lost australia and australia and you're out to complement the other thing although dimensions could also influence the lineup of

England

batting because they have some great batsmen in Pakistan we have mentioned Mohammed Harris who gives him a nice touch p But

England

probably beat Pakistan in batting, do you agree? with that, yes, unfortunately because they've been very good and we've dealt with it before.
Those guys in the middle haven't hit much, but they seem like pretty safe players to me. and they've seen a lot, they've just been and they're facing exclusion I think, and he played one or two games, he was actually injured, but they've seen this attack quite a bit, obviously Pakistan has some bad MCG memories of that. India defeat and the one person we haven't mentioned is a

world

cup

final

is Ben Stokes and as we saw again Sri Lanka have a quiet tournament but when you need someone in a critical situation the highest of high pressure situations is Ben Stokes whether he has a few or not he is worth his weight in gold in that middle order the other thing we just mentioned is the weather the forecast is not good for Sunday there is a day of Book on Monday, Monday is slightly better. do the game on Sunday the

final

can only be reduced to 10 overs a side not five a side and there is half an hour of extra time they can use that Sunday once they have started that game on Sunday if it goes on the day of the Reserve

will

just complete that game if you get what I mean, do you think that's the right thing to do?
I think I think five overs makes it a complete and utter lottery and that's why the Australia

England

game wasn't reduced to when it rained I just couldn't come back and to be honest it's a bit of a lottery, 10 over is a little more sensible, just

England

, whoever is chasing Douglas Lewis and Stern, has to be a little more connected.

England

had it with the MCG. against Ireland, right? They could have readjusted their batting lineup worried about DLS, they didn't and they almost jumped out with Mowing and Livingston in the crease and the rain fell and they got knocked out so you can't say. because the day and night game at the MCG to begin with you can't look up too the MCG is a bowl you just can't it's not like a Chelmsford where the weather comes from you know where the weather comes from you can compare the melbourne creek round to Chelmsford you know that's old Bill's mum where he's from so you just don't know you expect someone to be on the other side maybe radar ground crew you just have to be it's one it's one night to be on you don't want to lose a

World

Cup at super run rate over anybody huh I tell you what the

England

guys have experienced before Chris Jordan has been there in a T20 game a charger it was for four against Pakistan um yeah and he went over the line but here we won a whole game you don't want you wouldn't plan that you'd already be planning in your mind as captain yeah you guys would know who's going to dump you yeah and regardless of the conditions, yes, so things would only change drastically on the day if you like rice this just doesn't suit Jordan and he's not going to the yorkers and actually probably if you were to say flat Wicked everything just right from the MCG I think it

will

be sam curran from long he would dive into the wicket he would bowl a wide hole so you can't straighten it out so you would set yourself up like a field off site with uh behind square and have him hit the side and whatever happens butler and the house would be in a super good. question you would have to work so i would rework who is going to bowl for pakistan and if it was obvious then i would send out who is most likely to counter it i would prefer left hand right to be honest it could be a twist , you could go Mo or someone oh if it was absolutely a mole yeah and given the two spinners that would play it

will

be shadab or else it might even be a current mole not even butler stage butler three um , but i try to work and try to anticipate what's going to happen he's pretty good at this super oh not good but let's play a full game of cricket hopefully the weather forecast is better bright sunshine greets us all at the Melbourne cricket ground on Sunday, join us at seven o'clock in the morning.
